THE 2005 INGREDIENTS. THE 2005 SPECIAL
CHALLENGE
In the past, we've had a single theme, and a few ingredients
(4; choose 3, etc). This year, we've added something special to the contest
for This Year Only: Rules Limitations. That's right, not only will
there be a genre/theme, and a list of ingredients, but you must also choose
one (or more, if you want) rules limitations from a set list to incorporate
into your design. Can you make the System Matter when you've got a limitation?
Show us!
There are Three Steps. Follow all three steps below.
Step 1: The Theme:
Create a game that is Based On, or Inspired By, a Historical
Period.
Create your game with the above firmly in mind. You can use any
period you want, in any way you wish.
|
Step 2: The Ingredients:
Wine.
Entomology.
Accuser.
Invincible.
Companion.
Choose three of the above five ingredients. These
ingredients must appear in some way in your design. You can use
them in any way you want, but one of the judging criteria is "How
Well You Use Your Chosen Ingredients". Use them well!

Step 3: The Rules Limitations
*There is no character sheet.
*The system makes use of designer-created cards:
Not Tarot or Trump Cards.
*All playable characters are fixed- No character
generation.
*Resolution system must use colors.
*Hand gestures have mechanical effects in-game.
*Use a dice based system where at least 3 distinct
pieces of information can be derived from a single roll.
You must choose one of the above six rules limitations,
and incorporate it into your game design. You may use more if
you really feel up to it, but it is not required.
